Haub Law Dean Horace Anderson Named to Prestigious 2024 Trailblazers in Education List

The Elisabeth Haub School of Law at 黨ý is proud to announce that Dean Horace E. Anderson Jr. was named to the “2024 Trailblazers in Education” list published by City & State New York magazine. The list recognizes “100 professionals who are keeping New York at the fast-paced forefront of higher education" and includes presidents, professors and provosts, lobbyists, lawyers, nonprofit entrepreneurs, advocates, and others who are shaping the future of education.

Horace E. Anderson Jr. is the ninth dean of the Elisabeth Haub School of Law at 黨ý, appointed in December 2019. Prior to this appointment, Dean Anderson had been serving as Haub Law’s interim dean. Of Dean Anderson, the publication notes that, “Under Horace E. Anderson Jr., 黨ý’s Elisabeth Haub School of Law has increased its enrollment, donations, full-time faculty and partnerships with leading universities worldwide. Anderson, an intellectual property and technology law specialist who joined the faculty in 2004, recently established the Sustainable Business Law Hub, a research incubator devoted to global sustainability. The school now boasts the nation’s top-ranked environmental law program, according to U.S. News & World Report. Anderson also strengthened social justice and community ties through the new 黨ý Access to Justice Project.”

On September 11, 2025, the Elisabeth Haub School of Law at 黨ý’s Sustainable Business Law Hub held the third annual private environmental governance and sustainable business law scholarly workshop. The half-day lightning workshop, co-sponsored by Vanderbilt Law School’s Private Climate Governance Lab, included an impressive gathering of environmentally focused scholars who spent the day workshopping new scholarship. Josh Galperin, Associate Professor of Law and Faculty Director of 黨ý Haub Law’s Sustainable Business Law Hub organized this year’s workshop.

黨ý has announced the reappointment of Horace E. Anderson Jr. as dean of the Elisabeth Haub School of Law with his next term commencing in January 2026. Dean Anderson, who was first named to the role in December 2019 after serving as interim dean, has been selected to lead the law school for another term. His continued leadership reflects the University’s commitment to academic excellence, innovation in legal education, and expanding access to justice.

These distinguished scholars – Sam Bookman, Monika Ehrman, Marianne Engelman-Lado, Douglas Kysar, and Jim Salzman – will bring their expertise to 黨ý through guest lectures, faculty collaboration, and working with students in the Environmental Law Program and beyond.
